The Canberra City Pipes and Drums (CCPD) is encouraging the community to join us in honouring Australia's veterans on Anzac Day with a simple and highly powerful message of thanks and respect.

THANK YOU
remember them... 25 April ®

CCPD wants service-goers to send an unmistakeable message to veterans as they march on Anzac Day, by proudly wearing t-shirts displaying this message.

Show your support by going to rememberthem.com.au or the 'Remember Them' Facebook page.

The Inspiration

CCPD Lance Corporal, Jen Hamer says “the band has always had an intrinsic link with veteran communities and we are proud to have supported veteran and military causes through our music. The t-shirt idea is about giving members of the public the same chance to show their support, but in a powerfully visual way.”

“We want our Service personnel to walk or march down our streets lined with people saying THANK YOU”.

The t-shirt idea came about following an invitation for the band (which is also the official pipe band for the Australian Federal Police) to perform at the 2012 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo (REMT) in Scotland – the world’s most iconic military Tattoo and an event which is not-for-profit and  has gifted some £5 million to benevolent military service and civilian organisations.

CCPD aims to emulate the REMT approach with this initiative. The proceeds will provide much needed financial support to veteran groups, as well as support the band’s upcoming performance in Edinburgh. A percentage of t-shirt profits will go to the RSL, whose contribution to Australian veteran communities is invaluable.

“Like REMT, we are a not-for-profit organisation so encouraging the public to join us in communicating a message of thankfulness and respect to our veterans is paramount."
